What this is

Therapists near Markham, done properly.

Clients come from Markham’s Thornhill side, Unionville, Milliken, Markham Village, and Cornell. The office is at 1118 Centre Street, Suite 205, between Bathurst and Dufferin, a few minutes west of Yonge Street.

Every clinician is a Registered Psychotherapist, a Registered Social Worker, or a graduate clinician under their supervision. After a free 30-minute phone consultation, our matching team recommends one clinician for your concern, your preferences, and your schedule. Sessions are in person or by secure video, in English, Russian, Hebrew, Urdu, or Hindi.

You might be looking for this if
  • You want a registered therapist in the Thornhill and Markham area, not a long drive away
  • Exam stress, perfectionism, or burnout has your teen or young adult running on empty
  • You and your partner want help communicating before small things become big ones
  • Family expectations and your own plans are pulling in different directions
  • You would like a therapist who understands living between two cultures
  • You need sessions in the evening or on Sunday because weekdays are full
How we work

Our approach in three parts.

01

Culturally fluent care

Several clinicians hold more than one culture themselves and work in Russian, Hebrew, Urdu, or Hindi as well as English. Family obligations, faith, and immigration are treated as part of the picture, not as problems to fix.

02

Young people and their parents

Teens and young adults are a large part of our practice: exam and performance anxiety, social anxiety, low mood, and the pressure of big decisions. Parents get their own consultations when that helps.

03

Couples work on both sides of Yonge

Couples and family counselling, including Emotionally Focused Therapy, runs in person at the Thornhill office and online. Our Relationship Clinic team focuses on this work full time.

Good to know

Questions people ask us.

How do I get to the office from Markham?

Head west on Highway 7 or Steeles Avenue, cross Yonge Street into the Vaughan side of Thornhill, and turn onto Centre Street; the office is at 1118 Centre Street, Suite 205, between Bathurst and Dufferin, with free parking on site.

Is Thornhill in Markham or in Vaughan?

Both. Thornhill is split by Yonge Street: the east side is in Markham and the west side, where our office is, is in Vaughan. Either way it is the same neighbourhood, and our clinicians see clients from both sides.

Do you help with exam and school pressure?

Yes. Test anxiety, perfectionism, and burnout in students are among the most common reasons families in Markham and Thornhill contact us. Sessions can be in person after school or online from home.

Which languages are available?

Sessions are offered in English, Russian, Hebrew, Urdu, and Hindi, depending on the clinician. Tell the matching team your preferred language on the consultation call and they will match accordingly.

Is this covered by insurance?

Most extended health plans cover psychotherapy delivered by a Registered Psychotherapist or Registered Social Worker, and we issue a receipt after every session for you to submit. Coverage amounts and eligible designations vary by plan, so please confirm with your insurer before your first appointment.
