Research has consistently shown that perinatal mental health concerns, including postpartum depression and anxiety, affect up to 1 in 5 new parents. These experiences are influenced by biological, psychological, and social changes during pregnancy and postpartum. Evidence indicates that supportive therapy, mindfulness-based approaches, and cognitive behavioral techniques significantly reduce symptoms and improve parent-infant bonding.
Therapy can also mitigate long-term developmental effects on children by helping parents regulate emotions, manage stress, and engage in responsive caregiving. Peer-reviewed studies highlight the benefits of involving partners in treatment when possible, as shared understanding and communication can strengthen the family system as a whole.

Absolutely, we can involve partners if it supports your journey, and can help both parents with communication and coping strategies to deal with the challenges of becoming a parent, allowing both of you to feel supported.
Yes, and it is how many of our perinatal clients prefer to meet. Sessions are by secure video from wherever you are, feeding and interruptions included. Nobody expects you to have a quiet room and a free hour.
Exhaustion is expected; feeling flat, hopeless, constantly anxious, disconnected from your baby, or not yourself for more than a couple of weeks is worth talking about. Both are good reasons to book. A consultation helps you tell the difference and decide what support would help.
